When Open Door Communications conceived of and developed TheLocalAccent.com, a regional web portal for the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, our original intent was to create a business directory plus a calendar of events, an interactive map, weather and tide charts as well as articles of local interest.

TheLocalAccent.com provides a venue where both residents and visitors in our area can quickly find whatever they are looking for, all in one location, and also gives businesses far greater exposure to the public at a very reasonable cost.

Our dream succeeded beyond our wildest imagination. In less than a year, TheLocalAccent.com has become a destination for visitors from all over Virginia and beyond, and has garnered praise from both readers and advertisers.

During the past year, our local economy has suffered along with the rest of the country. We very quickly realized that this economic challenge not only validated our belief in our original business plan, it also offered us a chance to explore new ideas for the website as well.
